A. The Kiwi Access Card is Hospitality New Zealand’s new look evidence of age card. It is an approved evidence of age document under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act. This card is previously known as the 18+card.
A. We have redesigned the card so that it can better address the requirements of everyone in the community that needs a form of secure identification to give them access to goods and services.
A. Yes, your 18+ Card is valid for 10 years from the date that is issued.
A. Anyone 18 years or older, or turning 18 within one month and resides in New Zealand.
A: If you apply for paper application, you must be present in the store when applying, as this is a part of the identification process.
If you do the application online, you must be present in order to have your photo taken.
Yes! From the 27th September 2022 you will be able to apply for the Kiwi Access 18+ Card online. Visit https://apply.kiwiaccess.co.nz to begin your online application.
A: You can apply for the Kiwi Access card online at https://apply.kiwiaccess.co.nz/
Alternatively, you can apply in-store by collecting an application form from a participating NZ PostShop or AA Centre. You can find a list of store locations under 'Where to apply'. Once the form is completed, you will need to take the form to a participating NZ Post Shop or AA Centre to get checked and processed.
A: $60 including GST.
A: Yes. You will need one form of original photo ID either:
- Passport (NZ or overseas)
- NZ Driver Licence
- Firearms Licence (Paper application only)
- 18+ Card (Paper application only)
- Kiwi Access Card (Paper application only)
- Certificate of Identity (Paper application only)
- Refugee Travel Document (Paper application only)
All forms of ID need to be current or expired within the last two years prior to applying. If you do not have one of these, you can still apply – you need someone who can prove you are over 18 and some other form of identification, like your original birth certificate.
A: Up to 20 working days. There is no way to fast-track this process. If you've been waiting for longer than this, please contact us on kiwiaccessinfo@eslltd.zendesk.com or 04 333 2834, between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
Please Note: Due to the high demand on postal services during the Christmas period and the public holidays in December, applications submitted in December may take up to 6 weeks for your Kiwi Access Card to arrive. We appreciate your patience and recommend applying as early as possible to avoid delays.
A. If you change your address before your card has been sent to you, please contact Kiwi Access Helpdesk by emailing your new address details to kiwiaccessinfo@eslltd.zendesk.com. We will do our best to ensure delivery to your new address.
A: You will need to apply for a replacement card by completing another Kiwi Access Card application form in full, including supplying two photographs. The replacement card will cost you the standard $60 fee and will take the normal processing time of approximately two weeks. If your card has been lost or stolen, we also advise you to report this at your local Police station.
A. Anyone who:
- Has known you for 12 months or more
- Isn’t your spouse or partner
- Is 20 years of age or older
- is not related to you or part of your extended family group
- Doesn’t live at the same address as you
- Has a current Passport, NZ Driver Licence, 18+ Card, or Kiwi Access Card
A. 10 years from date of issue.
A. Complete the application form as normal, but you will also need to provide the document showing the name change, for instance your marriage certificate.
A: Your proof of address needs to be a statement, letter or bill from a business or organisation but does not need to have your name on it. This needs to be a valid NZ address to ensure delivery.
A: If you have an existing photo ID (see step 5a) you will need to write your name on the back of one of your photos
If you do not have an existing photo ID (see step 5b), your identifier must write your name, today’s date, and their signature on the back of one of your photos.
A: Whichever form of ID you provide must be an original. We cannot accept certified copies, photographs or photocopies.
A: No, however, you can apply online at https://apply.kiwiaccess.co.nz/. Otherwise, all applications must be made in-store at a participating NZ PostShop or AA Centre.
